G.P. Solutions’ High Intensity Recovery
Program has gained widespread acceptance within the citrus industry as the Greening (HLB) Disease has spread throughout the United States.
Mark White, a G.P. Solutions Nutrition Specialist, explains the program’s appeal. “In Greening, the bacteria produced by the HLB disease prevents food and nutrients from being transported up and down the phloem, and infected trees starve and eventually die. With our foliar program, trees receive essential macro and micro- nutrients through the leaves, and the trees can be sustained this way. Foliar application has always been the best practice for citrus nutrition, but now it’s absolutely critical.”
In G.P. Solutions’ High Intensity Recovery Program, the fertilizer and micronutrients are pH neutral and have extremely low salt indices. This allows the nutrients to be tank-mixed with insecticides that target the HLB dis- ease-causing vector – the Asian citrus psyllid. “Sprayers go through a grove every to 6 to 8 weeks, December through September,” White explains. “With tank-mixing, a grower who uses our program is not only supplying the right nutrients at optimal times, but has the opportunity to apply insecticides at optimal times of effectiveness in the psyllid’s life cycle.”
