Advocacy in Bloom

We spend a lot of time discussing citrus, berries, and other various seasonal Florida crops here in Central Florida Ag News, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the state’s impressive nursery and landscape industry. It is, after all, one of the largest in the country.

In fact, about 80% of all tropical and indoor plants in the U.S. come from Florida, with about a third going to landscapers and developers.

As with so many other crops, teamwork makes the dream work, and that’s where the Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association comes in.

As one of the largest and most influential trade organizations of its kind, the FNGLA supports professionals and businesses, including nurseries, landscaping services, garden centers, and greenhouses, which make up the state’s $31 billion nursery and landscape industry.

The association works closely with policymakers to advocate for legislation that will benefit the industry.

In addition to that advocacy, the association offers certifications like the Certified Horticulture Professional and Certified Landscape Designer programs that help to uphold standards of excellence throughout the industry.

The FNGLA’s two major trade shows, the Tropical Plant International Expo and The Landscape Show, empower industry professionals to learn more, network, and stay on top of the latest innovations and trends.

We’ve seen repeatedly how trade associations like the Florida Blueberry Growers Association, Dundee Citrus Growers Association, and the Florida Strawberry Growers Association benefit growers, and FNGLA plays just as important a role here in Florida.
