Much like November is a slippery slope into the holidays, January marks the start of the fleeting whirlwind that is fair season here in Central Florida. Ag parents can likely attest that even though preparation began long ago, one blink at the turn of the new year and suddenly it’s April.
For many kids in ag (not to mention their parents and teachers, too), the fair is the culmination of many months of hard work. They bring their best and lay it all out there, and I hope you’ll make time to see the action unfold in real life and add your voice to the chorus of cheers they’ve earned. A word of advice: The students aren’t the only ones who benefit from your support. You’re guaranteed to leave with a deeper appreciation for what our teachers and students accomplish together.
Don’t miss out on any of the action:
- Polk County Youth Fair: January 23-31
- Florida State Fair: February 5-16
- Highlands County Fair: February 6-14
- Osceola County Fair: February 13-22
- Strawberry Festival: February 26-March 8
- Central Florida Fair: February 26-March 8
Add to that lineup the Polk County Cattlemen’s Association Ranch Rodeo on February 14 and Agri-Fest in March and you’ve got no excuse not to get out and kick up your boots! You can sleep in April, just sayin’.
