June — A New Beginning

by KENDALL FARRAR, Bok North FFA Chapter Reporter

As the sun sets on an incredible year and rises on a brand new one, June has truly been a month of transformation and excitement for Bok North FFA. From state-level competitions and animal care to heartfelt community outreach, our chapter has stayed busy, inspired, and united.

State Convention: Learning, Competing, and Celebrating

At the end of June, Bok North FFA traveled to the Florida FFA State Convention — a highlight of our year. Eight of our members proudly competed: our OCC (Opening and Closing Ceremonies) team represented our chapter with confidence, Mya showcased her talents in Prepared Public Speaking, and LaRae brought energy and passion to Extemporaneous Speaking. Although none of our competitors made it to finals, each participant gained invaluable experience and displayed true FFA spirit.

Fifteen members from our chapter attended the convention, where we dove into workshops focused on leadership, communication, and teamwork. We cheered on fellow members across the state and felt incredibly honored to bring home several awards:

  • Florida’s Finest Chapter
  • Premier Chapter
  • Fourth Place – Agribusiness and OH Demonstrations
  • Fifth Place – Agricultural Advocacy

A very special congratulations goes to our friend and mentor, Clayton Keene of Lake Wales FFA, for being elected as the new Area IV Florida FFA State Vice President. Clayton, your journey continues to inspire us, and we know you’ll make a lasting impact across the state.

Piglets and a New Heifer: Growing Our Herd

Back on the land lab, our summer was just as action-packed. Our adorable piglets for PCYF (Polk County Youth Fair) are almost ready for pickup! From vaccinations and vet checkups to ensuring proper feeding and care, we’ve been working hard to make sure they’re healthy and show-ready.

But that’s not all — we welcomed a beautiful new heifer to our chapter family! She’s currently settling in at Ms. Williams’ pasture, building her strength with hopes of becoming a future show animal. The barn is buzzing with excitement, and our animal science team is more energized than ever.

Circle of Friends: Sharing Agriculture with the Community

One of our most heartwarming moments this month was visiting Circle of Friends. We had the opportunity to share our love for agriculture, introduce some of our animals, and connect with incredible individuals in our community. The smiles, laughter, and learning that happened that day reminded us why we do what we do — agriculture brings people together.

Looking Back: 2024–2025 in Review

This past year was one for the books. The 2024–2025 chapter of Bok North FFA will be remembered for its energy, growth, and resilience. Through every project, every early morning, and every challenge, we supported each other like family. We grew not just as students, but as leaders, advocates, and friends.

We extend our deepest thanks to everyone who made this year possible — our advisors, families, community partners, and of course, our dedicated members. It’s been a year filled with learning, laughter, and a few muddy boots. But most importantly, it’s been unforgettable.

Looking Ahead: The 2025–2026 Chapter Begins

As we step into a brand-new FFA year, our hearts are full of hope and anticipation. The 2025–2026 season promises new friendships, new animals, new improvements, and a whole lot more. We’re ready to embrace every opportunity, face every challenge, and celebrate every success that comes our way.

Bok North FFA is growing — not just in size, but in purpose and passion. We can’t wait to see what’s next.

Until then, thank you for being part of our journey. We’ll see you in the new year — stronger, prouder, and more inspired than ever.
