President’s Letter – March 2026

Hello, members and friends.

Members will attend Florida Farm Bureau’s Field to the Hill event this month as farmers and ranchers from across Florida travel to Washington, D.C., to meet with elected and appointed federal officials and advocate for Farm Bureau policy priorities. One topic of discussion that will be on members’ minds will no doubt be the timeline of aid for Florida farmers after U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins’, signing of a disaster declaration for Florida following the over $3.1 billion in losses from recent winter freezes. Stay tuned for further updates as this program develops by visiting www.floridafarmbureau.org

With the end of the 2026 Florida Legislative Regular Session looming at the time of this writing, we continue to follow session progress and await confirmation of dates of any special session called. As a reminder, you can continue to receive updates by visiting the Florida Farm Bureau Legislative Action Center at www.floridafarmbureau.org. We want to express our appreciation to our legislators, our Polk delegation, and particularly Senator Truenow and Representative Alvarez, for their leadership in passing the 2026 Florida Farm Bill.

At the local level, Polk County Farm Bureau has been engaged with members of the Polk County Board of County Commissioners and Polk County staff regarding the new Polk Agricultural Center. There is no question as to the need for this facility when considering the thousands of Polk County youth that the current center serves each year. We look forward to the opportunity to support the County Commission in their commitment to delivering a phased multi-use facility that will appropriately serve the agriculture community and Polk citizens as a whole.

Finally, be sure to check out next month’s issue of Central Florida Ag News to see a recap of the 2026 Polk County Agri-Fest event!
