Upcoming Riding Programs at the Florida Agricultural Museum
The calendar shows that June is almost here. While the weather is heating up and the hazy afternoon thunderstorms are kicking into gear, the date also means that school is about to be out for the summer, signaling that parents and kids need to choose a summer camp program. The Florida Agricultural Museum plays host to a stream of horse-crazy school-age kids from Central and Northern Florida during daytime camps held in select weeks throughout the summer months. Located in Palm Coast, just south of St. Augustine and north of Daytona Beach, the Florida Agricultural Museum’s Summer Horse Camps run Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during select weeks in June, July, and August. The first camp starts June 10; the fees for the Summer Horse Camps are $250 for each Tuesday to Saturday week.
The camps play host to kids from ages 8 to 15 with different levels suited for beginners, intermediate riders, and those with advanced horse-riding capabilities. Camp attendees learn necessary horse skills like care and grooming and horse safety, as well as take daily rides and all other sorts of horse play (pun intended). The museum maintains that the Summer Horse Camps are one of their most popular programs they offer and that the limited spaces for the camps fill up quickly.
Campers enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with like-minded peers, spending time revolved around those gentle giants, horses. Trail rides meander through lush Florida scrub land and winding creeks.
