Taking a look at contractors and vendors

Last month we put the spotlight on the staff that helps your business run on a daily basis. This time we will dig a little deeper into your business and address those individuals who are equally important to its success. Take some time this month to assess whether the contractors or vendors you utilize are a benefit or a burden.

The first step is to sit down and review the professionals who serve your company. One simple question is all you need: How are they doing? Since you are the one who is solely responsible for your company, it will be clear if your standards are being met.

After your assessment, immediately schedule a conversation with those who need to improve such things as their rates or services provided. A solution often can be found with a meeting that reaffirms the expectations of both parties involved.

While problems might present themselves with certain individuals, there also are many integral people who make your business a success. It is essential to take some time to reward, or simply thank, the men and women you depend upon. Everyone enjoys the feeling of being a benefit to others. Take just a few minutes to appreciate those who continue to keep your business growing.
