DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Dr. Ronald Rice, Director of the UF/IFAS Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension, was honored as the 2025 Extension Professional of the Year at Florida Farm Bureau’s Annual Meeting in Daytona Beach on Oct 27.
Presented annually, the award recognizes a UF/IFAS Extension professional who has made significant contributions to Florida agriculture in alignment with the Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s mission and vision.
Rice was nominated by the Western Palm Beach and Palm Beach County Farm Bureaus for his efforts to strengthen communication between the Extension Service Center and the agricultural community. His leadership has helped bridge the gap between growers and policymakers, fostering greater understanding and support for agricultural issues.
Rice is known for organizing educational activities, farm tours and county proclamations that raise awareness and appreciation for agriculture.
As part of the award, Rice received a plaque and a $500 cash prize. The nominating counties also received $500 to support a new or existing project in partnership with the local Extension office.
