One of my basic beliefs as a business owner is that businesses MUST support our local communities. And I’ll be honest, it ruffles my feathers when I see giant companies profiting from our communities but doing very little to give back in a way that really matters. So that’s one of the reasons that Russell’s supports 4-H and FFA chapters across the state.
How do we support ’em?
For starters, every single member of the FFA and 4-H community receives a 10% discount at Russell’s. On top of that, we’ve participated in sponsorships and fundraisers for various chapters across our great state. And Russell’s supports students with a $25 gift card when they write us before their shows at fairs or festivals.
Why do we support ’em?
Because we believe in these organizations and the impact that they have on families that shop with us. FFA prepares members for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. They say it best when they claim, “We’re growing the next generation of leaders who will change the world.” Similarly, 4-H helps young people “learn by doing,” and that’s always been the Russell’s way. I’m sure it’s the same in your house too.
I want to encourage you to support your community in any way that you can. If you are a business owner, then find a way to use your influence and success to give back. If you aren’t a business owner, then support those businesses that do give back. Let’s keep our dollars local so we can create more local jobs and grow more local businesses that share our values – what do ya say?
