Top Things To Do At An Ag Convention Near You

Don’t let boredom attack this convention season, fight back using our list of top fun things to do around your ag convention area!

Spring has sprung and summer is quickly approaching! With that being said, the busiest time for Florida organizations is coming up . . . ag convention season.

Ag conventions are always a blast. Attendees get to see friends from all over the state, attend workshops and learn new things each year. However, no matter how hard one tries, boredom always strikes. It could be in the afternoon when there is nothing else to do but sit in the room until the night session. Maybe it’s after the sessions and there aren’t any activities to go and do. We have put together a short list of top things to do while attending specific ag conventions to fight back against boredom this summer. Enjoy!

  • Florida FFA State Convention and Expo

    • After sessions when there isn’t much to do and maybe you don’t feel like going for a swim in the pool, test your abilities at Orlando’s Escapology! This 5 star entertainment is ranked third out of 230 Fun & Games in Orlando and has received a certificate of excellence. If you’re looking for something on the cheaper side, race Go Karts or shoot out of the “Sling Shot” in downtown Kissimmee at Fun Spot just two and a half miles from the hotel.
  • Florida Citrus Mutual – Florida Citrus Industry Annual Conference

    • While in Bonita Springs during this ag convention, you can enjoy the beautiful public beach or give parasailing/paragliding a whirl. There are also numerous jetski and paddleboard rentals all around the town. After going to the beach, enjoy the downtown feel of the Coconut Point Mall, just two miles from the hotel and Miromar Outlets are five miles down the road. For a nice family evening, head down to Congo River Golf, rated 4.5 stars and only two miles from the hotel, this mini golf course is sure to be a hit with your kids!
  • Florida Cattlemen’s Association – Ag Convention

    • Right down the road from Disney Springs, you can enjoy tons of shopping on your time off from sessions and meetings. One evening you may even want to catch a show at La Nouba – Cirque Du Soleil. Tickets for the shows are $78.98 each and you want to make sure you get tickets early to ensure great seats. It’s ranked #6 out of 420 top things to do in Orlando on TripAdivsor.com with awesome reviews.
  • Florida Farm Bureau YF & R

    • The gorgeous architecture and cobblestone paths are just one way to describe downtown Punta Gorda. During your stay make sure to take part in the Southwest Florida Food Tours. On this walking tour you will meet local restaurateurs, learn the history of the town, and enjoy delicious cuisine from five local restaurants.  There are also numerous charters that you can go on each day for the best fishing experience.

Central Florida AgNews would love to see what things you all are doing at these conferences. During your time, when you post pictures on social media make sure to use the hashtag #CFAN17 so we can share your excitement!
